The SHOGI KENTEI (Shogi Examination) in English for foreign shogi fans!

・It is for the very first time in the shogi scene.
・It is to be held on the occasion of the 6th International Shogi Forum in Shizuoka City.
・The SHOGI KENTEI fee is free of charge !

The application procedures and instructions

There are no age, shogi strength restrictions and prerequisites for taking the SHOGI KENTEI(Shogi Examination) tests. To take a SHOGI KENTEI test, a candidate must send a double postcard as the application form in advance. Applications are only accepted during the application periods specified below.

Eligibility requirements for examination

Examinee except Japanese nationality

Examination fee

Free of charge

Examination course

Course C (5-kyu and 6-kyu)
Course D (7-kyu, 8-kyu and 9-kyu)
Notes : It depends upon the examinee which course he takes.
No one cannot take both course at the same time.

Result

The result will be notified within a month. All of successful examinees will receive the certificate from 5 ～9kyu.

The Commemorative Shogi Tournament for Foreign Shogi Players !

・For the first time in 20 years, Japan Shogi Association will hold the Shogi Tournament for foreign shogi players living in Japan on the occasion of the 6th International Shogi Forum in Shizuoka City.
・The organizer of the tournament welcomes participants from abroad.

Winner, runner-up, and third place(2 players) will be awarded the prize.

(2)Transportation and accommodations are at participants' expense
(3)It depends upon the participant which group he enters.
(4)In case the number of participants exceeds the fixed number, please notice some players will be excepted by a lot.Otherwise, tournament organizer will adjust the number of participant between A and B.
